You may have heard of the Chef Shack food truck, one of the first food trucks to ever hit the streets of Minneapolis. You may also be familiar with Chef Shack in Minneapolis, a little restaurant in the Seward neighborhood that served unique and delicious bites such as Indian-spiced mini donuts. Unfortunately, the duo behind Chef Shack food trucks and Chef Shack Minneapolis are shutting both down to focus on their Bay City, WI restaurant, Chef Shack Bay City (although they will still be operating the truck at the Mill City Farmers Market in the summer.) The women behind Chef Shack are co-owners and talented chefs Lisa Carlson and Carrie Summer, world-travelers with impressive resumes. Now onto details about Chef Shack Bay City. Bay City is about an hour drive from the Twin Cities, and the route is beautifully scenic. The town is not necessarily a destination in itself, but it is close by to some other quaint small cities such as Red Wing. Now I eat a lot of dinners out. Pretty much every night of the week, whether on the road or here in Minneapolis. I’ve experienced countless cuisines, enjoyed the coziness of several different dining rooms, and interacted with thousands of staff members who work hard to provide a wonderful experience. But I must say, that my dinner at Chef Shack Bay City was one of the greats, something extra special. The shot gun bar turned restaurant is intimate, with a fire place going in the front, candle lighting across the tables and bar, and a lovely back patio right on the water. The food and attention to flavor & detail was incredible, and the people were charming and welcoming. Long story short: plan a night out of town and visit here soon! Reservations highly encouraged.
